Never have I agreed more with Carl.

It's time.

Ministers and Rabbi,

This Saturday, the International Flapjack Society will be 3 years old.  This Saturday, the International Flapjack Society will be 19 members strong.  This Saturday, the International Flapjack Society will feast upon its 1st official Supper.

Of course, at this stage, we all know how important this is.  Not only will we celebrate the birth of our great Society, but we will also celebrate the birth of two of our Ministers.  We will also induct our 19th Minister, who's strength and dedication know no bounds, reflected above in his artful interpretation of the Da Vinci classic.  Further, we have business to attend to.  While a Vegas, a Hershey or a Chico trip may overwhelm our memories, it is the meetings where those big trips are planned, that really count.  Those meetings of ideas and debate and compromise are the heart of our Society - they are the reason our Society continues to thrive.  Be prepared to make your strongest showing.

To catch us all up, here is a quick overview of the upcoming weekend.

Friday Night - Seawolf Concert at Velvet Jones.  Letters suggests to be there by 10:00 pm, tickets to be purchased at the door.  Bars to follow.

Saturday Morning/Afternoon - As of now, open.  Suggestions needed.

Saturday Evening - The I.F.S. 3 Year Anniversary Supper.  To be held at our IHOP.  Be there by 7:00 pm.

Attendees: Ministers of Philanthropy, Media and Technology, Trade, Defense, Member of the Month, Competition, Rousing, Photography, Letters, Wardrobe, Athletics, Interior Design and our newest Minister, official title yet to be determined.  Our strongest Guest Member, Ryan Maughan, will also be in attendance.

Saturday Night - The Moving Units concert at Velvet Jones.  Again, Letters suggests that we arrive by 10:00 pm, and again, bars to follow.

Sunday - Open for suggestions.  To be followed by the long, sad drive home.

We are three years old.  This is real.

Sincerely,

The Minister of Rousing

Many ministers come to me when they are seeking advice on technology and media related matters, but I'm not always available to respond in an expedient manner and must send them to internet based how-to's.  One new site has caught my eye as a wealth of information, not only on technology, but other topics such as cooking and travel.  So if you ever have another question, just point your web broswer's navigation bar at http://www.marksinfinitesolutions.com/

Or visit their YouTube page here: http://www.youtube.com/infinitesolutions

Alfalfa_2Ministers and Rabbi,

Although we have had lots of fun at various informal gatherings since Chico, the fact of the matter is that we have some serious business to take care of.  Numerous loose ends need to be tied up and I am looking forward to a very business-like meeting.

We will be inducting a new member and as usual it is very important for the organization to maintain our code and conduct.  The new member will be fully endorsed by all necessary parties and will have the paperwork completed before the meeting.
I propose every member have something to bring to the meeting, no matter how small.  I personally will be bringing numerous items, including the member of the year trophy for the best member of 2007.  Remember what is at stake here.  I implore you, "If you have a responsibility within the group please carry out your required duties."  If you cannot perform your duties, find a minister who can and is willing to help.
I also proposed a picture day in which we will be taking personal photos for the website and filling out personal bios.  I have prepared the bio forms and will be handing them out at the meeting.  For those members not present, the forms can be filled out and emailed.  It is my vision to work these personal biographies into the website.  So either wear something nice or IFS gear, or both.
Sorry about the serious business post.  Do good work,  love your beer, love your flapjacks, honor your organization, honor your country and be good ministers.  That is all.

Fidel forgot to post a couple things, so here it goes:

This latest installment of Wham Commercial Jams is called "Pogo" by Digitalism. This is a bold statement, but I'm going to go ahead and say it, this song/commercial combo is the best I've seen to date and will be tough to top. The song is featured in three Pontiac commercials: "Details" featuring Pontiac's 2008 G6 GXP Coupe, Solstice GXP Roadster, and Torrent GXP Crossover, "GXP G6" featuring the 2008 G6 GXP Street Edition, and "Halo" which features the 2008 G6 GXP Street Edition and a tie in with the much anticipated Halo 3. There's a sweepstakes to win the Halo inspired Pontiac G6 GXP Street Edition in the photo below. Look for these commercials Saturday's during college football. And for the more artistically inclined, also check out this site for more information on the "Details" video design.

The Caruthers Blue Raiders have advanced to the semifinal section of the West Sierra League Playoffs. They will face a formidable undefeated Fowler team, at Fowler, for a rematch of about two weeks ago. Those who attended the Caruthers trip would know that it didn't turn out too well, but the Raiders are coming of a positive victory last week to advance. With seven minutes left in the fourth quarter, Caruthers scored two touchdowns, with the go-ahead score at the 1:03 mark, to beat the lower seeded Liberty Madera-Ranchos. Send your positive thoughts Friday night to Fowler, CA, where the Blue Raiders will need your support. This time we're doing it for Jason!

As of this morning, Moving Units tickets are now on sale.  They're $12 ($14 if purchased online).  They can be purchased online at www.myspace.com/clubmercy

If you're in SB, tickets can also be purchased at Just Play Music and Morninglory Music.

The promoter is aware of how many people I'm getting to come to this show, so I'm hoping he'll be able to hook up a decent sized guest list.  Odds are I won't be able to get every monkey in for free, but I'm trying to get as many as I can.  I'll let you know when I hear back from the promoter.

     Love, Letters

In Santa Barbara, the last weekend in November (Nov. 30-Dec.2) culminates with grand showing of events and I propose we add the anniversary meeting to the list.

First, Friday night, November 30th, Velvet Jones brings us

                                                      Sw_myspaceheader

Second, Saturday night, December 1st, our own Bernie Baggarly has helped to bring another favorite to Velvet Jones

                                        Banner

And MOST IMPORTANTLY, the following Wednesday, December 4th, is yours truly's 25th Birthday, and I would love to celebrate it the previous weekend with you all and a little friend of ours, THE HEAT, downtown.

                                                       20041102t222050dsc_0683

As usual, we should try and have the meeting on Saturday morning so travelers don't have to worry about getting crunk and driving.

                                                        Ihop

Please comment on your availability. Hopefully this weekend would give people a little advanced notice so we can have a strong showing for the anniversary meeting.

I.F.S. is now on Facebook, so if you have not joined the internet social scene that is sweeping the nation you better get you some.  I have added the page link to the Sitelist to live among our other technological endeavors.  Y/T is already a fan.

For those of you who couldn't make it please enjoy the experience vicariously through these photos.

Big thanks to LaSchwanian for the photography.

Wow Dad.  So many posts as of late.  This is what I like to see.  I wanted to share these with all of you.  They bring me joy.

As many of you already know, Rousing and I made a spontaneous Vegas trip on Monday of this week in order to go and meet up with Defense who found himself there for work.  The trip was highly eventful and cannot be entirely recounted here, but I will that when Rousing and I touched down in Vegas, Defense was still 4 hours outside the city.  When we checked into the hotel, the front desk lady upgraded Curtis to deluxe suite because he "looks like the actor from Nip Tuck."  We gladly accepted the room but neither of us fully understood why we were getting it until the photo below was stumbled upon last night.

Wow dad.

Coachcarter Hotel reservations were made today, two jacuzzi suites at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Northern Fresno.  The battle for the West Sierra League Championship is staged for 7:00 friday night (you can see the lights from the freeway) at Anderson Field in Caruthers, California. Breakfast will be served by Mrs. Casanova herself, saturday morning, afterwards we can either shoot shotguns if available, or take Anderson field and have our own IFS league championship. The options are still open. Check in can take place as early as 300 Saturday.  Dinner later that night at any fine bbq establishment, and then the aforementioned bar scene, full of black snake moan costumes.  Here is the tentative guest list, just make it happen.
