I know some of you had your hearts set on Chicago....but honestly, I would not have been able to pull it off.  And in the future, it will be done proper.  As for now, we have a date with destiny in the Greatest City on Earth.  Who's coming with me?

I was under the impression we had already voted on the windy city.  Also, you kind gents overlooked the strongest individual who struggled to make his way off the streets of Chicago...

See you in Chicago..  NYC kinda sucks... real talk

If you prefer smooth, intelligent hip hop to self-involved rap, you can't ignore Common, CHICAGO BORN and BRED: http://youtube.com/watch?v=tgi4MxjjEr8

Can everyone see this? If not, that sucks, but I want to know who's in on writing a remake of Buck Rogers

now I'll get high.
I just wanted to take this moment to congratulate the profound Spanish actor, Javier Bardem, on his Oscar.  Great job!

Here is a video of Baggs killin' it at the HaHa Cafe. Enjoy!

It's real.

Wednesday evening, I will have my first attempt at stand-up comedy @ the Ha Ha Cafe in Los Angeles.  In recent weeks, I have reached out to SNL's Fred Armisen and Opie & Anthony's (and Lucky Louie's) Jim Norton for advice.  Jim said "You're gonna bomb, but just fucking do it."  Fred said "Do whatever you think would make your friends laugh."  With those pennies from heaven in tow, I will be cracking the mic this Wednesday evening.
sweatin' bullets.jpg

In a perfect world, I would prefer the room to be composed of complete strangers in an effort to get an accurate read of the material.  But recently I've realized that several of you will be coming anyway... so fuck it.  Come one, come all.  I'm sure there will be plenty more opportunities for me to bomb in front of strangers in the future.

It's a little earlier than I would like, but I'm posting the times so those of you who would like to come can plan accordingly.  The Open Mic starts at 6:00 and goes 'till about 8-8:30.  The order of the participants is drawn at random, so I could go on at any time.  Nick T will be hosting the rest of the way from 9pm on.

Hope to see you there.

Hey Booman, look how real I am.

I'm so confused.  M+T, what do we do now?  Please help.
Ok, the move is official.  Typepad is no longer alive, and we are now on Movable Type.  I will be emaling the info on how to login and post right now.

Alright, spring is quickly approaching and we need to start planning a getaway. If you're not in school you may have forgot that Spring Break is the last week of March...I know, it says so on my syllabus. It's been almost two years exactly since our IFS: THE RECKONING (strong, very strong) and the time has come for another Vegas trip. For all you newbies, check out the March 2006 archives or just ask an older well respected brother...I'm sure someone could get in contact with the Minister of Photography and ask him...

I've done a little researching of hotel rates and accommodations thus far. There are some rinky dinky deals for $600-$900 suites, but the prime location is the Venetian Rialto Suite which runs $1038 for two nights stay. The Venetian website boasts over 1000 square footage, two 27" plasmas, two queen beds, sunken living room with wet bar and a full size sofa sleeper. That's nice Dad...

This is all preliminary and I'm sure there are some better deals on the Web Jam. Letters, myself and our ladies of IFS are already planning to go but it would be sweet to have more monkeys/ladies participate, plus it could drive down the expenses. Think about it, discuss it, dream about it. Please comment so we could get in touch with finance ASAP to get the rooms booked. Spring Break 2008...it's happeniiiiiing!

P.S. One of Old Blue Eyes' classic hits is "My Kind of Town" which is about, you guessed it, Chicago. Bye-bye.

Happy Shrove Tuesday! Hope everyone enjoyed a short stack at their local IHOP today...We dined at the founding, Turnpike. Dottie was nowhere to be found, but there were plenty of highschool kids who stared at three men enjoying some cold Adolphus (Adolphus) and flapjacks. Cheers!

Where's Bernie?

There he is!

Yup.

This poll is only active for a few more days, so if you haven't cast your vote for our Labor Day getaway, go for it.  Windy City is currently leading Big Apple by the slimmest of margins.  Make your voice heard.  Vote or Die.

Upgradeya

Ministers and Rabbi,

We have spent many years on Typepad, but the time to move is here.  After much thought and deliberation, I made the jump this weekend and set us up on our own host, and upgraded the software to Movable Type, the smarter / taller version of Typepad.  Almost everything works the same, but there will be more opportunity for continued growth on this new setup.

The site is posted here for now: http://wdiem.com/ifs

I'm still ironing out a few things, making sure the site is a near perfect match of what we already have, and will then be able to UPGREYED.  When I flip the switch, probably this weekend, an email will go out to all members with the login information.  The url will be the same so those who don't post won't have to do anything.  I'll sync all the posts and comments the day of the switch so nothing should be lost.

Good Flapjack,
M+T

P.S. National Pancake Day is tomorrow so be sure to eat some flapjacks.

For those of you who are living under a rock, here's one of tonight's AG semifinalists.  Please watch as we pray that she wins, but if Vegas had odds for American Gladiators, she'd be 1000:1 to win tonight.

Here's the sweetest eliminator of the season and this is how Venus advanced to the semifinals.  God this show is so strong..  God bless America

Sorry to steal your thunder Buncher... Enjoy the end of Carl's G-men rants.

It's been a while since Sir Tom has gotten some love from IFS.  Let this news story be a reminder why he is so sweet.

Attendees: M+T, ID, Leisure, Letters, AP, MOM, Comp, A+D, Merritime

Guest Members: Saman & Martin

Presentation of Birthday Bowling Pin to M+T, signed by all attendees.

Business:

M+T:  "Letters should post the minutes."  (done and done.)
ID:  "Keep up the intensity"
Leisure:  "There's Jager in our future."
Auditory:  "Promote the Arnold video whenever possible."
MOM:  "Things are going well."
Comp:  "We should discuss the changing of certain members' titles."
A+D:  "Mascot will consist of pancakes, beer, smoking, syrup, butter, shotgun."
Maritime:  "We will go on a cruise to Encenada, possibly for a springtime meeting."  (keep us posted)
International:  (while wearing a tiny sweater which read 'born to fly')  "We should jam out to the channel islands jam.  We're going to be rich when we sell the bikini jams."
Letters:  "We're going to New York labor day weekend, which is late august/beginning of september."  (moments later, many suggested possibly traveling to Chicago instead.  This should be voted on via online poll:  "Big Apple" or "Windy City."  Keep in mind that the Angels will be visiting the Yankees and the Phillies will be visiting the Cubs.  My guess is Yankee tickets may be very difficult to acquire, and if acquired, very expensive.  But, I leave it in democracy's hands.  M+T would you please post a poll when convenient.)

Member of the Month Voting:

A three way tie between M+T, AP and A+D was brought to a second vote, resolved by a show of hands, with A+D the victor. (The kicker:  2 million + in Geometry Wars)  Congratulations A+D!

Continental Breakfast Award Voting:

Athletics wins in a landslide.  Enjoy, as we revisit some of our favorite reasons why...

- "'Cause he's bad at having balls."
- "He is a big gay."
- "Ice cold Towers w/ the flowers... Trying to sneak in the Towers and look innocent."
- "It's amazing how someone can go from being so strong to so... fucking.... gay."
- "Get your priorities straight."

...and then we all got drunk and watched Eli kick ass.

Thanks for cleaning up the house... ya big jerks.

A super weekend.  I love IFS.
