First off, it's Fiesta weekend here in Santa Barbara, so I just wanted to throw that out there.  I know some of you are already coming up... The Mesa house welcomes you!

Second... Happy Birthday Minister of Wardrobe!!!

Third, we're at a bit of a crossroads here regarding the location of our next meeting.

Thinker_1.jpg

There are many IHOPs within close proximity of Angel Stadium.  None of which are proving to be as accommodating as our beloved Goleta location.  The IHOPs in the OC either serve beer, but do not have a private room, or, they have a private area for us, but do not serve beer (more so the latter).  I have already asked about the BYOB option, and no one is going for it

...and yes I have already played the "but we got runner-up in the national It Happens At IHOP contest!" card.

So, I wanted to open this up for discussion.  Considering the serious nature of some of the issues that will be brought to the table, I ask which is more important to you:

BEER

Budweiser - Label.jpg

...or PRIVACY

We should figure this out soon so I can go ahead with the reservation.  I have places lined up for whichever way we decide to go.  Thanks y'all!

What would IFS OC be without taking in a ball game at
The Big A
?

Which is why on August 9th, we were lucky to discover that the Southern California Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim of Orange County will be hosting the most hated franchise in baseball history...

The New York Skankees.

M+T has just purchased a dozen tickets to the game on Saturday, August 9th.

The game is a day game beginning at 12:55, so we'll have breakfast/meeting at IHOP before the game and then head on over to the Big A.  This will still allow us plenty of time to frequent one of the OC's super-sexy watering holes.

I'm 30 lbs lighter than the last time I was single, and last weekend was already very good to me.  This is going to be the greatest weekend ever!!

We have our first newspaper article about I.F.S. and the IHOP Contest.

Check it out here.

It is time to gather once again in the name of flapjackery.

This will be the first meeting since we won FIRST runner-up in the national "It Happens at IHOP" contest.  We are now the proud recipients of a $100 IHOP gift card, which will be used at one of the many IHOPs in...

The OC

sandy.jpgIt's been a long time coming, and the OC's time is now.  The meeting is scheduled for the second weekend of August (Friday the 8th - Sunday the 10th).  Between M+T's, Leisure's and Maritime's places, there will be accommodations aplenty.

Details are forthcoming... Save the date.

Flapjack. Check out my website I made (with the help of M+T) for employeers and projects. It would really help if you guys could give me some constructive criticism and/or ideas.

It's really basic right now and will be transforming over the upcoming weeks, so thanks for any advice or input.

You probably saw, but Adolphus is very close to sale. Soon this kid will be drinking a Stella.

Since yours truly has developed a strong addiction to egg rolls, I have become a spectator to an awesome event of female pillaging that the European continent has not seen since the likes of Genghis Kahn.  To get a taste of a method that has proven to be a major success for our brethren, I suggest mimicking the following approach whenever you are in the presence of a female opportunity

Honestly not that far off, and extremely successful................

It makes me so happy knowing that i didn't spend the bulk of three years anticipating a movie that is going to suck.  Even before his death, there was plenty of buzz about what Ledger was doing with his Joker.  Select members of the press have already been able to attend special screenings of The Dark Knight, and gradually the reviews are pouring in that this may actually be a comic book movie that the Academy will take seriously.

And the Oscar goes to....

I'm off to the deep dark jungles of Panama tomorrow to study the physical structure of the tropical rainforest in the name of 'Almighty Science'!  This means I will miss out on the July 4th festivities in I-town, but America needs me in the fight for knowledge.  Have a Bud in my name as I tromp through the steamy tropical forest in search of answers.
jungle_jim.jpgIf all goes well, this data will be used to quantitatively define the most productive, diverse forests on the planet using airborne and spaceborne lasers. GLOBAL WARMING, CORPORATIONS......
Competition will be joining me after a week in order to put the 'I' in IFS.  If I'm not attacked by any jungle creatures, I'll post pictures of my adventures, wish me luck.

ifs-eating2.jpg I got the call today, we unfortunately did not win the grand prize, but our story was a runner-up in the contest. What this means is that we get a $100 gift card to IHOP, our story will be featured on the IHOP website, and I may be interviewed by local media outlets that want to cover the story. Not bad.

obey-obama-progress.jpg Sorry this post will be a bit convoluted, but I have a few things to bring up. Here are the things I would like to discuss:
  1. I tried to deliver password protected posts yesterday, but they aren't going to work in our current system. There are two options moving forward to achieve this goal:
    • keep us on MovableType but move over to dynamic content (php). This would have the least effect on everyone, but as I have found from using MT, it is not as widely supported as Wordpress, so there are less cool plugins.
    • move us onto Wordpress. This would be a new system, but it is really similar to MT so everyone should be able to figure it out. I know we just moved so I am weighing that in my decision. The last move took several days time so I will not be making this move for a while.

  2. The I.F.S. Game is moving along nicely. I have added a link to the top of the left column for easy access in the future. Everything is set for another level, but it would be nice to get the scoreboard completed as well. Which would you rather see first?

  3. The I.F.S. Constitution - Our beloved Minister of Philanthropy has drafted a more formal constitution that needs to be melded with our napkins so that we have super sacred documents. Philanthropy has some great ideas for formalizing some elements of our society in an effort to preserve it's original intent, while providing groups of ministers the freedom to conduct meetings and business.

  4. The Next I.F.S. Meeting - We have a real need for some business to be taken care of, and the next meeting is a great opportunity for this to happen. I don't want to sink ships, but from what I have heard Chicago is not going to happen, as there are many unknowns in people's lives right now. The latest I heard from Team Germany was that they will not be able to make it. I personally am sitting on my rebate money, but could really use it to cover the past month's credit bills as I apparently got a little crazey.

  5. It Doesn't Happen At IHOP - I got the call and our story was a runner-up.

Any other business to discuss?
